CARAT DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEAN SIZE

People often assume that a 1ct diamond is bigger than a 0.90ct, this is not always true. Carat refers to a diamond’s weight and does not mean size, therefore the weight can be distributed in different ways. Diamonds work in thresholds, meaning a 0.93ct diamond costs significantly less than a 1ct diamond, however the visual size difference is often hard to see. Buying just below a whole carat threshold can achieve a great size whilst maximising your budget.

CONSIDER A FANCY CUT DIAMOND

The most expensive shape diamond is the round brilliant cut, usually approximately 20% more expensive than other shapes. Instead of round, try an elongated shape such as ovals, pears and radiant for a similar sparkle whilst maximising on size and price point.

LOWER CLARITY CAN BE YOUR FRIEND

When most people think of inclusions and flaws they immediately flinch.
Don’t restrict your search to VS and above as most SI1 can have inclusions less visible to the naked eye when selected by a professional. With our amazing technology we are able to show you diamonds photographed in extremely high resolution; even small diamonds can be viewed at full screen size.
The visual aspect of our technology allows you to choose a lower clarity diamond with confidence enabling you to maximise your budget.

USE COLOUR TO YOUR ADVANTAGE

Selecting a G coloured diamond is our #1 top tip for maximising your budget.
You avoid paying a premium price tag by sitting just below the top three colours, whilst still achieving an exceptional white diamond. Everyone perceives colour differently, so we encourage our clients to look at a diamond and love it before asking the colour grading.
